Lily of the Valley Seed

These are the seeds of Lily of the Valley! Though some of the leaves are getting ready to decompose, but other leaves remain green, and the seeds are still bright red.

Happiness is neither virtue nor pleasure nor this thing nor that but simply growth, We are happy when we are growing.
William Butler Yeats

The purpose of learning is growth, and our minds, unlike our bodies, can continue growing as we continue to live.
Mortimer Adler

The key to success is to keep growing in all areas of life - mental, emotional, spiritual, as well as physical.

  2. What's odd is that I've got dozens of lily of the valley in my garden, but I've never noticed the berries until now. They look like cherry tomatoes.

  4. Oh, the fragrance of the flowers is so wonderful. I didn't know the seeds were poisonous - as are so many of the beauties of nature. Do birds eat them and survive? Lovely photos, Icy!

  7. Because my lily of the valley grows on the fringe of my yard, my neighbor has trampled and killed most of them. I, too, have never noticed berries growing on them. Fascinating.
