Check Your Insurance Policy

Have you realized that a large sum of your income is spending on insurance? Every month I noticed that a big amount of money is going to house insurance, medical insurance, life insurance and car insurance. Sometimes, it felt like that the money just flies out of the window for nothing or no reason at all, unless there is an unfortunate event taking place that requires a large sum of paid out.

Insurance is such an important part of our life, so here are three special links for residents of CT, Homeowners Insurance Somers, CT, Life Insurance Somers, CT, and Life Insurance Tolland, CT to check out. We depends on it for the "just in case" occasions. No matter where we live, either in MI, or in LA, the law requires us have at least home and automobile insurance coverage.

I remember reading it somewhere that every six months we should review our insurance policy, call around to different companies, and compare prices. If necessarily, make the switch or the jump to save money. During these hard economic times, saving money is first priority, and not being a loyal customer unless there is a valuable incentive that we can't turn down.

With that said, my car insurance policy is up, and I'm going to do some looking around.

  1. I worked in insurance for over 12 years and I can tell you that since the deregulation of the insurance companies in the late 80's or early 90's it's all been downhill and will continue that way until there is some sort of insurance reform.

It is astoundingly a pain in the you know what to understand what is covered and what is not. Just remember that the key to understanding a policy is to read the exclusions. Why? Because whatever is not excluded is covered.

You also have to really do your homework. Going through an insurance agency or broker means you are paying more because you have to allow for them receiving their commissions. You are always better off going directly through the company. You can research online and then call the company directly.

It's unfortunately something we all have to do.

  2. Icy, you are so right. Thankfully my husband looks into this for us. I worked in insurance for a little while and I'd rather not deal with it if I don't have to and he likes the technical stuff.

  3. I didn't know you had to check your policy every six months. I need to do that too. Thanks for the information.

  4. Good information Icy. We found that by having our car, boat and home insurance from the same company we got extra discounts, it saved us quite a bit.
