Saying Good-Bye

When you see this white silk, you know that summer is about to be over! Around here, all the yellow thistle flowers have turned into this stage of seeding.

It is ready to fly and plant itself in the earth for next year! This white head looks a lot like dandelion at this stage. We have no sun for the last four days, and already I'm going stir crazy!

The yellow thistle flower is saying good-bye to summer! I can't wait for the rain to stop and go outside to see how everything has changed! What is the weather like where you live?

Bountiful White Berries

I saw these white berries along the cut off at my son's soccer field! They were so white and beautiful. It looked to me as if they were a favorite fruit for some kinds of critters. Though while I was there, I see none!

Along this soccer field there were so many things to discover, but you wouldn't see them if you were not close enough or looked for them. On busy days, I walked by and thought of this area as a jungle, but on days that I slowed down, I saw these deliciously looking white berries.

These berries looked so much like white apples, but I'm sure they were meant for critters, and not human. When you take time to look for beautiful things in our world, you will see them everywhere.

Bring Out the Red Columbine

While I was out shopping for bed sets, I was reminded of CSN stores online, and it came to my attention that I could have done my browsing without leaving home. I love shopping online for the convenient of it all, but old habits die hard since I like to feel and see my desired objects.

JoJo didn't like anything at the stores that we went through, so we went home and hopped on the stores at CSN. We didn't agree on a particular bed yet, but look at what JoJo found for bedding.

He picked the bedding above, and the red color on this reminds me of my red columbine flowers below. Of course, the wall has to be painted blue for JoJo. By the way, this bedding is also called JoJo Designs! Go figure!

I had these flowers in my archive, and always wanted to show them. They were, however, lost in the shuffle until now. I love this shade of red, and have to admit that JoJo has good taste too.

I love columbine flowers, and I read that they are easy to grow from seeds. I bought a package of mixed columbine to grow in my garden, but they proved me wrong. Nothing germinates at all! I was very disappointed, but will try again next year!

I like the way columbine flowers look! Their petals are like wings flying in the wind, and they come in so many different colors. Last year I found one purple columbine plant in my yard, a present from the birds, and found the pink one near my dad's grave. You can see them here and here!

Orange Berries

This is the tree in my backyard, and at this time of the year it bears these berries. As the weather gets colder, the berries are now in darker shade of orange color. Then the berries fall off onto the ground.

I have seen these berries for the last 10 years that I've lived here, but this is the first time they look beautiful to me. Maybe my mood was different this year toward this ornamental tree.

They look good enough to eat, don't they? I have been watching to see if the birds eat these berries, but haven't seen any stopping by! The berries are now like prunes!

Still Thriving

Along the Detroit River, these thistles are still thriving to grow! The silky thistle flowers post were found at Saint Clair Shore Lake, Metro Park. On this side of the river, the sun is always full when it is out.

I like the little spot of purple color on these thistles. The weather is a bit colder in the morning and evening now, but as long as the sun comes out, these thistles will thrive!

These thistles are big comparing to the ones I have in my backyard. Spending some time by the water is always a welcome relaxation for me.

Watching the Boat Went By

The day was nice and beautiful. I set out for an outing by the Detroit River. It is the best time to enjoy nature when everything is clear, and pleasant! I spotted this boat on the Canadian side sailing by.

The sky was blue, the water was blue and the boat had some blue design stripes on it! Can you see the Canada flag flying in the wind? There were very few people around at this time, which made my photo hunt much easier.

It looked like a working boat, not one of those fun yacht, or cruise ship! My camera was pushed to the max of its capacity, but I couldn't find anyone on this boat. It was moving at a steady speed as you can tell by the wave.

Have a great Blue Monday, and Macro Monday!

Fuzzy Silky Thistles

Wild thistles can grow very big, especially when they are near the water, and rocks. I found these huge old thistles by the water edge where the boys went exploring. They were very beautiful and shiny under the sun.

I love this stage of thistle as much as the dandelion ones. I like to see the fuzzy things flying away in the wind to complete its circle of life. Even though it is a bit colder now, it is the best temperature to go on photo hunt. No sweat or burn to worry!

I couldn't get close to these flowers since they were by the rocky edge of the water. I zoomed all the way in to get these pictures. Their shiny fuzz got my attention!

Curious Minds Want to Know

We found another area at Metro Park for the boys to explore, and in this place they could walk right out into the water, which they went wading and exploring.

They spotted the water snake, and decided to follow it! They were pretty brave I thought, because I would have gone right out of there. However, they are boys, and their curiosity is high.

The water snake is a nonpoisonous one, and was just a baby. I urged them to get out of the water, but they diverted their attention to some other things after that. They went on looking for shell fishes and no long interested in the snake.

Chasing Butterfly

I don't know if this is a moth or a butterfly. Some say it is a moth, but I think it is just as beautiful as a butterfly when it opened its wing to show the designs!

There were so many of these brown butterflies on that day, and they were attracted to this blue swimming pool. I couldn't decide which one to take picture, so I snapped one, and then went to the next.

I think it was mating time for these butterflies because after a little rest, they took their business up in the air, several repeated moments, and finally came down for another rest.

These beautiful brown butterflies are no longer in my yard since the weather is cooler now. Our summer is coming to a close, which I am not ready, but there is nothing I can do about it.
