Ice On Little Branches

Just want to show you some beautiful ice I saw on these little branches! Very ordinary, but with macro, they look quite amazing to me.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Big Ten Network

Written by Don Gregory

The Big Ten Network is my favorite sports network. The Big Ten Network is specifically made for the Big Ten Conference, and those are the teams I cheer for. I watch the Big Ten Network on satellite TV from tvbydirect.com.

Nebraska is joining the Big Ten conference, so next year the Big Ten conference football games will be even more exciting. The in-depth coverage of Big Ten conference football teams is unparalleled by any other sports channel. The Big Ten Network spend s a lot of time showing you behind the scenes and providing inspiring and heartwarming stories about the players, coaches, and even the fans.

The Big Ten Network is the best thing since sliced bread in my household. My wife and daughter watch the Big Ten Network almost as often as I do, especially during college football season. The Big Ten Network provides more than just football coverage.

The Big ten Network focuses on numerous sport splayed by the schools who are members of the Big Ten Conference. The Big Ten Network also allows me to watch tennis, gymnastics, and even rowing. There are many other sports they broadcast, but nothing compares to their football coverage.

The Big Ten Network is by far the most watch television station in our home during college football season. We are die hard Penn State fans, but we will cheer for any school in the Big Ten.

Name These White Flowers

I am going stir crazy at the moment for not seeing flowers! So these photos were from the summer in my friend's back yard.  I miss seeing flowers, colors, and feeling the warm wind. Winter still has a long way to go here in Metro Detroit, and we are just at the beginning of it!

Shine Up the Night

This was the decoration outside the church that we attended every Christmas Eve.  The nativity sat on one side of a beautiful fish pond, and lit up the path for whoever wanted to wander over to admire.

Christmas lights hung all around the pond, and adored the statue of Mary. Yes, it was cold, but who could resist such a beautiful display? Many of us just walked right over before the mass just to stop and see the wonderful winter land on Christmas Eve.

My Favorite Children's Network is PBS

Written by my friend Lino Brown

I love the PBS network from children's programs. My all-time favorite children's educational program is Sesame Street. Both my daughters grew up watching Sesame Street and now my grandkids are watching it too. This wonderful, educational program features moppets such as Bert, Ernie, Big Bird, Cookie Monster, Oscar the grouch, and of course Elmo. Elmo is one of Sesame Streets favorite characters.

My kids and grandkids have learned so much from this educational television show. The show also teaches the children Spanish as well as English, teaches them the alphabet, how to count in both English and Spanish, and many other things. Both my children were able to skip kindergarten because of Sesame Street.

They watched this show in the morning, at lunch time, and in the evenings. Very rarely were any of the shows repeated so they were always learning something new. I never had to tell them to watch the show they knew what time it came on and they were there in front of the Cable TV eagerly waiting for it to come on. I highly suggest to any parent to encourage their children to watch Sesame Street if they want their children to learn things fast and get a jump-start on their education

Blue Beads Candle

This is a candle that my little boy made for me using blue star beads, with safety pins!  It was my Christmas present that I had to contribute $3 to the project for purchasing the materials, which was not bad considering it was an art project.

The candle turned out beautifully, and my son put in a great deal of concentration to finish the project before school let out for the season.  I got to open my present early because he wanted to have the candle lit.

This candle occupied a spot on my kitchen window sill, and when the sun came up, it sparkled!  I am like most mothers out there, treasure everything that my child made for me, no matter how small or big.

Sparkling Ice

We were hit with a snow storm on Sunday, which resulted in two consecutive days off for school children. Although there were not that much snow, but the strong wind and dropping temperature, ice was quickly formed everywhere.

Itching to take pictures, I found this sparkling ice on the branches, and when the sun hit them just right, it was amazing to see.

With the temperature at 6-8 degrees these last few days, we couldn't stay out there that long! Don't worry, we had three layers of clothing on when we went out and shoveled the snow away from the door.  It didn't matter, it was still freezing!

Party Favors

December seems like a busy month in our family!  We have two birthdays to celebrate as if life is not busy enough with holiday shopping.  However, the party also seems to set the tone for togetherness and to celebrate.

As you all know the children's party involved party favors nowadays! I don't know who invented that because I don't remember preparing party favors when my oldest (25) was much younger!

We had 10 kids, so here were 10 party favors with all the fun little treat inside the bags.  And yes they must have blue colors on them, for boys!

Perfectly Decorated with Rain Drops

This was the wild aster flower head after the rain.  I was out in my yard, randomly shooting some dried flowers when this flower jumped into sight. Take a look at this post:  Seeds of Tomorrow, which was in a different stage.

While shooting the pictures, I didn't see so many perfectly form water droplets until I uploaded them onto my computer.  The result was stunning enough to leave me breathless.

The weather in Michigan changes from minute to minute so when I went out again to experience different modes on my camera, this beautiful flower was all gone! I have to give thanks to my God above for providing me with such amazing creation.

Travel In Style With These Luggage Sets

My family are scattering from many different States, and every few years or so we would try to get together for the big gathering.  I like the exciting feeling of seeing my relatives, but I do not like going through the hassles at the airport.

Luckily, I don't have to go out of State this year, but for those that are flying in; they have to find luggage sets to fit the overhead compartment on the airplane. Extra suitcase means extra money nowadays, and who would want to pay extra when the ticket was costly enough.

For me, when I travel the rolling luggage is a must.  It offers the convenience of pushing and pulling without me having to tug the weight of my bag.  I love those rollers!  I even see backpacks for kids with rollers, and I thought that was very clever.

Well, actually I don't see anyone carrying their luggage anymore.  The rollers have revolutionized the need to lift heavy bags and making it easier for everyone's life. The only thing we must learn is pack less, and it is very attainable on the new designs of suitcases.

If you are looking for luggage sets, check out the link above.  You will find many brand name designers, styles, and colors on luggage sets.

The Famous Christmas Tree Man

Contributed by Wallace Stafford

There is an older gentleman within the neighborhood who has sold Christmas trees ever since I can remember. He has a huge farm and I guess one of his favorite past times is tending to trees and selling them at Christmas time. Every year we visit the farm so the kids can pick out their favorite tree. Most of the time they want one that is nine foot tall, but finally will pick one that is only about five foot tall.

I don't know how many more years the gentleman will be there selling trees, but as long as he is there every year, we will be too. I know he doesn't make a lot of money either by selling them, because the price is usually about twelve dollars for a five foot tree. I think it is more the fact he likes to be a part of making the kids evening and watching their faces, that makes it all worth while to him. With the holiday season and being away from home more often, we always set the home alarm system from http://www.totalalarmsystems.com/ before we go Christmas tree shopping or shopping at the mall, and once the tree is picked out, we have to go shopping to buy something new for that year to put on it.
