Blue Lobelia Magadi
The sign on these little flowers said Magadi Lobelia and Lobelia Magadi. This was the first time for me to see these pretty blue flowers.
Yes, my eyes are trained now to look for blue flowers, or other blue things when I'm out and about. I have no problem spotting red, yellow, orange, or white, but blue takes a bit searching.
These magadi lobelia are known to be heat tolerance and attracting butterflies to garden. They are easy to grow as in baskets, as border, in containers, ground covering, as well as slopes. The magadi lobelia is annual, but comes in a variety of colors such as, blue, dark blue, violet, lavender, pink, white, pink, and a mixed of spotted white.
Joining Blue Monday and Midweek Blue!!

Those are so pretty, Icy. I like that hint of purple in them as well. It's always such a special treat to see blue flowers as they are so rare. Very lovely shots.
ReplyDeleteIcy, these are beautifully captured! I snapped some photos of these flowers this w/e at Jeannie's. They are such a pretty shade of blue.
ReplyDeletei agree with you Icy. It is easy not to see blue because there are a lot more other colors that are more common, but now that I too am trained to see blue, I realized there are a lot of blue after all. Thanks to blogging for opening my eyes through what others can see
ReplyDeleteLobelia often remind me of clouds when they grow all frothy in banging baskets.
ReplyDeleteI like blue lobelia in hanging baskets, maybe with something that has white flowers.

These flowers are really beautiful. I was walking around in my neighborhood this weekend and I saw some beautiful flowers that were almost like the color of the flowers that are in your pics. I don't see blue flowers that often, and I think that they are so pretty.
ReplyDeleteYes, but do they spin?
ReplyDeleteI remember when my mother bought me some of these to plant along the side of our yard, where we can't mow. They didn't return, though....maybe because they were on such a slope of rocky soil....I don't know.
ReplyDeleteThey are pretty, though :)
I may need to see if I can find these flowers. Every summer, we attract butterflies, catch the caterpillars, and raise them until they emerge from the chrysalis.
ReplyDeleteblue does take a bit of searching, I've experienced the same thing and I'm always so pleased when I find it
ReplyDeletethese flowers are lovely
blue and purple flowers always catch my eye. this is a beautiful. terrific shots.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy the beauty of all flowers. I am not familiar with these. They are very pretty.
ReplyDeleteYou captured them well. They look thick and lush. They obviously love the place in which they're growing. Blue flowers are known for needing a lot of care.
ReplyDeleteThey are so pretty, I can imagine why they would attract butterflies! Did you buy some for your garden?
