Blue Balloon Flowers

If you type in balloon flowers for a search, this flower actually comes up because before it opens up, the petals fold together to form a balloon.

This is a perennial flower, and comes in many different colors as well, such as red, pink, blue, and purple that I've seen so far.

My time is tied this weekend because my son's soccer team is going into a playoff, so we will be in and out of the house a lot. Have a great weekend everyone!

Blue Earth

I saw this sign/picture at Belle Isle Nature Park, and it will serve as a reminder for myself come this spring. I will put water and food for the birds. We have quite a few of different birds such as robins, blue-jays, cardinals, starlings, chickadees and others.

White Heart in Nature

I have to show you my journey on discovering what were offered at the Belle Isle Conservatory. These were the white heart leaves, with pink veins that I spotted after seeing the green ones.

They appeared to me like magic when I was least expected, but were a delight to my senses. They were amazing to see, and inspecting how beautifully the heart was form on each leaf.

I guess when you're tuned in to nature, it will always surprised you with something wonderful, and it could be as big as this leaf, or it could be just a tiny strain of grass.

Birds Singing

Oh I wish you could hear the song those birds are singing! They are quite vocal, and make their present know in my back yard. As you can see, these birds are not at all ill-fed, but are very chubby indeed.

Spring Expectations

Spring has not arrived yet, but my friends are already thinking about spring cleaning, a chore in which I'm so not welcomed. One of those friends thought about re-arranging her home, and acquired some new modern bar stools to replace the ones she currently have.

I'm not rushing spring for that reason, but rather wish it to come for warmer weather, and lively environment. I want to see the earth reborn from a long winter slumber with endless sun light. I'm not a creature of dreary cold weather, so I need to wake up from hibernation first before I could grab on the idea of house cleaning.

However, each of us is different, thus we are allowed to have our own priorities and wishes. Upon seeing my friend's choice for the bar tool, I get quite excited! This piece of furniture will sure bring on many interesting conversation, don't you think?

Green Heart in Nature

Nature has a way of showing us that they are in tune with our human celebration, such as Valentine Day. This gigantic leaf is in a heart shape!

I have been visiting the Belle Isle Conservatory for years, but really didn't pay attention to this heart leaf before.  Has it always been there, or is it something new? I don't know!

After looking around, and inspecting the root system, I realize that this heart leaf has been there all the time. I probably didn't pay attention to it, or didn't visit it at the right time. Have a great weekend!

White Cloud and Blue Sky

Yup...we finally see a bit of blue sky, white cloud, and sunshine. It is a beautiful morning even though the temperature is only 10 degrees.

We have a few more months of winter, and then we will join the rest of the world complaining about the heat. Luckily, the weather doesn't care about our constant displease!

Blue Jar

This blue jar/container is my thrift store find, and I am using it to hold my pencils/pens. Thanks to Sally at Smiling Sally, I'm now looking for blue "things" to shoot, or in this case, buy!

It was a steal in my book, since I only had to pay 50 cents for it, and it was in perfect shape! Some time I hid chocolate candies from the kids in it, and nobody knew!

Green the Earth With Rain Barrels

During the summer, my city put us on an alert to save water. We were not allow to use water for our yard or garden on at certain days and at a certain hours.  In an effort to cooperate with city rules, and to greener the earth, I use buckets, cans and containers for my rain harvesting.
