Beloved Purple World

My Purple World
Imagine for a moment, would you, when you take a step outside and walk right into an unbelievable and magical world of purple sky. Even if you don't like the color purple, which I do, I love, ask yourself how many times you see such a display of purple (lavender) color in the sky?

Beautiful Hot-Cake Flowers

After my son re-do the front porch and put down grass seed, he wanted to plant flowers! Oh yes, another strange phenomenon thing going on! I'm on the other hand, not very enthusiastic about it as I've planted flowers in this spot before and they all died. Some are suffocating and flimsy, such as my dianthus.

However, when I see the Hot Cakes Mix Stock; I went for them because they were different looking and this was the first time I saw them.

The Hot Cakes Mix Stocks came in three colors: white, purple and pink. They need full sun and well drained soil with two varieties. I am a sick individual knowing quite well that this area neither receives full sun or has well drained soil. I figure I will just take a chance on them :-), after all I only spent roughly three dollars for them.

The Web Of Life

In the Fog
My early morning ritual is a walk around my backyard, and since the weather is going into fall, some time there is fog. I notice this spider web when a bit of sun ray shining through, and it was amazing to see.

Around the Bend

This is the canal leading out to Lake Saint Clair at Metro Park. I like strolling along the shore watching the boats coming in and going out. It is a clear view to the lake, and it is quite relaxing watching people enjoying their life.

Sunflowers have to be the symbol of summer, at least to me! They are easy to grow from seeds, and I like these combination of colors! The common color used to be yellow, but you can find a variety of different colors nowadays.

Looked Like Candle Tree Flowers

I do not know what kind of tree this was, but the flowers from afar looked like candles. They grew straight upward and had the shape of triangle. Again, I saw this tree on the University Campus ground.

Different Colors of Beautiful Ranunculus

Purple Ranunculus
It has been rainy a lot in our part of the world, so I took my little camera to a home center and had a blast sneaking around to snap pictures. Many stores around here do not like you to take photos of the content of their stores.

Exotic Iris

Pretty Iris

Spring is in the air! You can feel it! You can smell it! But Michigan has its own agenda, or I should say Metro Detroit weather is on its own schedule. We had rain for the entire week, and it was pretty cold with strong wind.

These photos of iris were found in my archives!

Wood Squill and Crocus

These poor Scilla Siberica, commonly known as Wood Squill, didn't get to live long this year. Blooming for only three days, and were buried under the our mid April snow.

The same fate was cast upon this single white crocus. After the snow, this flower was gone. Both of these flowers: the wood squill and the crocus, are grown from bulbs and are perennial flowers.

Give Your House a Fresh Look With Curtains

Spring is in the air. It is time to clean the inside and outside. It is time to freshen up, change out winter gear, and give the house a lighter look.

I have a friend that goes as far as changing her window dressing. She removes the heavier fabric drape to a lighter and prettier one. Currently she is looking at Cheap Curtains to find something affordable for her kitchen.

Fabulous Lavender Flower

Just a Pretty One
Digging deep deep into my archives and way way back to 2010, I saw this beautiful purple/lavender flower. I remembered it was a little flower and I was on the ground taking the photos. I am also sure it was at the Belle Isle Conservatory too.

I saw this beautiful blue-eyed daisy in the summer, and of course, it has to be photographed.  I love the lavender color and the fact that it grows on its own without much of a care.

I am watching more snow coming down today at a very steady rate. Luckily, there will be no school tomorrow for me to worry about shoveling and cleaning up the car.

The Weather

Nothing much going on in my world. It is just freezing out there. Nothing to take picture. On a few clear nights, I saw the moon; and snapped pictures at different times.

Ladybug In Winter

I spotted this ladybug on our entrance rug by the back door, and I was speechless. I can't believe that ladybug was around in -15, -20 degree weather. I don't know how long it took refuge in my home, and I couldn't bring myself to put it back outside. So, I just left the ladybug to her vice! Not sure if I did the right thing, but oh well...it's just a ladybug :-)

People told me that I won't see wildlife critters in the city. They are wrong and misinformed.  For the past two weeks, this amazing hawk has ruled my area.

Refill to Save Money and the Earth

Hand Soap
One of the necessary things we use in our house is the hand soap. I have it in the bathrooms, the kitchen, and in the mud room by the entrance.

I used to buy individual bottles to replace them when we ran out, but then it hit me that it was more expensive to do so than to buy a big refill container. I also thought about the recycling issues.

Tanning Hawk

This was the second time I saw the hawk this year. It was tanning in the warm sun and probably scanning for prey. I shot the photos through my laundry room's window.

Ward Off the Risk of Stroke With Coffee and Green Tea

I have known very few people that don’t drink at least a cup of coffee in the morning. It is the fuel that gets our body moving! It is the oil that soothes out the knots. Without a cup of coffee when I wake up, my day will be a mess!

Caffeine makes me jitter and my stomach churns but I still must have a cup a day. I've switched to half and half, which means half caffeine and half decaf and it worked out so much better for my stomach.

Lady In Waiting

She came at the same time as her partner, but the male downy woodpecker was a meaner and had no manner. He took over the feeder, and she had to hang around waiting for her turn.

Junco In the Yard

Looking out my mud room's window, I saw this very dark feather bird on the white snow. I didn't know junco hanging around during the winter months here in Michigan.
