Ladybug In Winter

I spotted this ladybug on our entrance rug by the back door, and I was speechless. I can't believe that ladybug was around in -15, -20 degree weather. I don't know how long it took refuge in my home, and I couldn't bring myself to put it back outside. So, I just left the ladybug to her vice! Not sure if I did the right thing, but oh's just a ladybug :-)

  1. They are so cute and don't do any harm. I too am surprised to see it when it's so cold outside.

  2. They are cute bugs. I would have let it stay in the house too. Maybe it came in for some warmth. Lovely photos, have a happy week!

  3. Looks like you have a new pet. ;))

  4. They are cute. We have had invasions of them though in the Fall when they try to get inside when it's getting cold.

  5. I'm glad you let it be. Such a brave little ladybug!

  6. Ladybugs like to over winter in the hollow stems of plants, I've heard - like hollyhocks. Perhaps this one thought spring was coming and ended up inside. Sweet photos.

  7. We have much more mild winters than this, but I still find to strange to see bees in the middle of the winter - which happens here on sunny winter days!

  8. They come in our home every Autumn and use it as their hibernation spot..and they are harmless, usually hiding in draperies and such, If they crawl on your finger, they will emit an alarm odor. When the house warms, they are fooled into waking up, just enjoy~

  9. Lovely photos - I'm glad you let her be. Of all the bugs she's definitely one of the prettiest!

  10. oh. hope she stays warm, she looks so lovely.
